The Barren Shore

Twenty years after the Azurite chemical disaster poisoned the soil and souls of the port city of Kaulapur, a ghost fleet of waste ships is being dispatched to a hidden incinerator on the remote Eden Archipelago. For the survivors, life is a breathless crawl through ash. When three women, each marked by the disaster's indelible scars, are offered a lucrative surrogacy contract on a private island owned by the very conglomerate that destroyed their city, they accept, seeking a cure for wounds that never healed. There, they discover their chemically-altered bodies are not being healed, but harvested in a cycle of exploitation that links the toxic waste they fled to the new life they carry.
