It communicated with the central control system via a shielded cable that ran through a conduit beneath the catwalk grating. The next step in the model was probability. But he had a date. And the date made the hypothesis real.

That night, Adrian left his office at 9:47 PM. The rain had stopped, replaced by a low fog that coiled around the streetlights like incense around altar candles.
