Novel Summary
In the fog-choked streets of 1930s London, private investigator Alistair Finch takes on a routine surveillance job—tracking a disabled factory worker suspected of benefit fraud. But as Finch follows his quarry through rain-slicked alleyways, he realizes someone is following him too. A mysterious figure shadows his every move, always just out of sight, creating a deadly game of cat and mouse where the hunter becomes the hunted. When the two finally confront each other, Finch discovers that the "perfect crime" he has been investigating is nothing but a tragic accident born of bureaucratic indifference and sheer coincidence.
