Shadow Upon Shadow

In the rain-slicked city of Montford, private investigator Jasper Cole is hired to shadow Dr. Alistair Thorne, a therapist at the controversial New Dawn Family Institute, following the suicide of a former patient. As Cole documents Thorne’s meticulously ordinary life, he is unnerved by the sensation of being watched in return. The case morphs into a cat-and-mouse game when he discovers a clumsy yet persistent figure tracking his every move. This other shadow, Morgan Ash, is a survivor seeking vengeance for decades of institutionalized silence. Their inevitable confrontation in a derelict theatre reveals that the “perfect crime” they are chasing is nothing but a fragile construct of bureaucratic dullness and tragic luck. To rewrite their haunted pasts, they must decide whether to administer a bullet or a byline.
