In March 2025, in Haveri district, Karnataka, India, a 24-year-old pregnant woman named Gowramma was brutally murdered by her family for marrying against their wishes. She had secretly wed Ravi, a man from a lower caste, and was five months pregnant. Her father Basavaraj and brother Manjunath stormed into her home and bludgeoned her to death, killing both the mother and the unborn child.
